SPEECH NEWS:

Speech competitors may only register for up to two in each flight and if they are participating in LD or PF only one in each flight.

Flight A: Extemp- Declamation- Children’s Literature- Duo Interp Flight B: Impromptu- Original Oratory- Dramatic Interp- Oral Interp

Extemporaneous Speaking

Tournament #1 through 6:

Round One: Current Foreign Questions (economic, political, cultural)

Round Two: Current Domestic Questions (economic, political, cultural)

Round Three: Themed Questions based on the biggest news event of the current week

League Championship:

Semis: Current Foreign Questions (economic, political, cultural)

Finals: Current Domestic Questions (economic, political, cultural)

Impromptu: In each round the competitors will have a choice from three selections on which to speak.

Tournament #1 : Each round will consist of themed quotes.

Tournament #2: Each round will be a humorous question. Example: Why is yellow a prevalent color for fast food restaurants? Why is Jello always shown in advertisements as jiggling? Why do we use expressions like jumbo shrimp?

Tournament #3: Each round will be “value” words. Example, integrity, love, honor

Tournament #4: Each round will be a starter phrases. Example: Once upon a time…, On a dark and stormy night…, One day of the way home from school.

Tournament #5: Each round will consist of a group of themed quotes.

Tournament #6: Each round will be a choice from colors.
